In the first match of B division, the Netherlands faced first-timer Slovakia. The Dutch team got an early 2:0 lead after three minutes and even raised that lead to 8:1 after 27 minutes. Nevertheless, Slovakia improved their game steadily and thus deserved to win the third period.
