Poland put their opponents under pressure, while Germany played out of a solid defense, in which both teams were driven by their good goalkeepers, Juliane Laws for Germany and Polish Katarzyna Postawka. While the first period had no goal, Poland took the lead in the second period, before Germany tied to 1-1 in the 50th minute by a fast break goal by Katja Timmel. Just 90 seconds later, Poland took back the lead and completed the match by an empty-netter. As the better team in this match and the most complete team in the whole tournament, Poland deserved to be relegated to the A pool.
