After Switzerland managed to tie Sweden in the round robin, they now faced Finland. It all looked like a really stunning matchup for that day, especially, as the last two World Cup matches between these countries were very close.
Mika Kohonen startet with a hammer scoring the lead after just 34 seconds in first period. Finland had a great start and could even raise the lead to 2:0 (13th). Christoph Hofbauer scored a free-hit in power-play for Switzerland, but Finland just was slightly luckier today and raised the lead to two goals again by Jari-Pekka Lehtonen with 21 seconds left on the clock.
If you arrived at your seats too late, you were punished again in second half, as Switzerland scored their second goal by Marc Dysli in 87th second of second period. The match was very close now with good opportunities for both teams - but no more goals on the scoreboard in second period. The stunning fight continued in the final period - and again, Team Suomi was a bit luckier: in 52th, it was Kohonen who scored his second goal of the game. Finland's fifth and final goal was an empty-netter after the Swiss decided to subsitute their goalie with more than two minutes on the clock.
