Womens' Qualification, Round 2: Shikha Uberoi (IND) - Valentina Sassi (ITA) 6:1 7:6(6)

My original onsite report from www.sports-india.com:
First set may be summed up very fast: our girl just gave an impressing show. She started very concentrated, confident and just shot the Italian girl off court in the first set. Shika converted her third break point in the second game of first set and broke Sassi again in the sixth game, which lead to a 5-1 lead, which Shika easily saved to win the first set by 6-1.
In second set, you could see that this Italian girl had much more potential than it looked out to be in first set. Breaking Shika's serve to lead 2-0 gave Valentina more confidence and though Shika managed to re-break immediately afterwards and tied the score at own score to 2-2, the Italian was back in the game. Maybe Shika could have made it quite fast, as she had triple break point and broke her opponent with a fourth break point in the fifth game of second set , but in the next game, Shikhs struggled and gave away a straight re-break. Afterwards, Shika's serve looked very good, while Valentina faced three break points at 3-3, but survived. Though the score was tied, Shika just looked better to me, when it started to rain very slightly. Thus non surprisingly, Shika took her next opportunity to advance in the eleventh game, when she turned a 30-15 at the Italian to serve to a 30-40 and converted the break point. Shika was on the mount now serving for the match, while the weather conditions got worse. Shika was a bit nervous now, facing 0-15 and 15-40, but she deuced the points. Just during the next point, the showers increased that much that the umpire stopped the rallye and postponed playing.
