Mahesh Bhupathi/Max Mirnyi - David Prinosil/Alexander Waske(GER) 7:6(6) 3:6 6:3

My original Posting from www.sports-india.com

After two great matches on Court 1, I supposed this one to be an easier one for our guys. I was wrong. The Germans started better and, on the other hand, Mahesh started quite bad. Mirnyi kept them in the game. At least, Mahesh improved during all the match. But my hero of the game was David Prinosil, showing that he is Germany's No.1 in doubles and made a fantastic match to his German home crowd. The tournament management will surely say, that this crowd was stunning and great - but not great enough to be louder than two Myrnyi girlie fans and myself, though they have been about 2,000 people in advance :o) The first set was an incredibly close one, I thought we would loose it many times. Already in the first set, it was sure, that Waske was the weaker spot of two great-playing opponents. Prinosil lost none of his service games - but one (later...). In the second set, the local ones were truely the better team as much as at the beginning of the third one. But the match got closer again. With his last service game, Prinosil got broken the first and only time and - though he and Waske had chances to tie the score again, they did not manage it.
Another one of three close matches on Court 1 today. I was a bit disappointed of Mahesh tonight, who showed very good doubles tennis just in the third set. Maybe it has been the worst of three great matches in Hamburg today, but of course a great one!
