At the beginning of the match, in which both players were forced to many errors due to a strong and cold wind, Dick Norman got the better start of the match and broke Rochus early. Rochus had no chance to come back in the first set and lost it deservedly, but was the better player in second one, which he won. Nevertheless, Norman came back and won the third set. The match was not full of high-class tennis, but at least, it was quite thrilling.
