After a nervous start of both teams, Germany took a two-goal lead, but the Netherlands tied it again. Germany improved their game in the second period and were able to increase their 3:2 lead after 20 minutes to a 5:3 one. Like in the second period, the guests scored the first goal of the third one, but Sandra Dirksen increased Germany's lead to 7:4 with two and a half minutes left on the clock. The German defense acted very nervous and gave the Dutch team two goals in the two final minutes.
