Argentina started slightly better in the match, but were unable to convert one of their two penalty corners they managed to get in the first ten minutes of the game. In the 10th minute, our team had their first penalty corner of the man and converted it by Sandeep Singh. They played much more confident now, while Argentina did hardly have any chance before the break. After a beautiful left-wing attack by India, Rajpal Singh received a pass and just needed to tip it in the goal in the 18th minute. India mainly played fast breaks against Argentina now and scored their third goal in the 26th minute. Though no more major chances occured to both teams, India was in complete control of the game, converted their chances and thus deserved the huge 3-0 lead.
Argentina tried to put more pressure on the Indian defense at the beginning of second half. Though they definitely had a higher ball possession time, they did not manage to find a way through our team's defense. Nevertheless and surprisingly, they managed to score in a chaotic situation in the 25th minute of second half, when India's goalie Charat Kumar Chetri first was able to save a shot´, but the South Americans got the rebound and scored their first goal of the Monchengladbach tourney. Nevertheless, it looked like no need to worry for us, as Argentina increased pressure without having proper chances to score - but with three minutes left on the clock, Argentina was awarded an penalty corner again. The Indian defense looked to save this situation, but they could not manage to shoot the ball out of the scoring zone an Argentina somehow found a way to shoot - and to score for the second time.
As Argentina had some minor chances including a penalty corner at the end, our team won slightly lucky. There was no need to bring Argentina back in the game, but they did - but in the end, they were awarded with the victory because of a great first half and reasonable 25 minutes in the second one. With that win, our team finished third in the tournament.
