Norway was the better team in the first period and just wasted too many chances to get a larger lead than one goal, which was scored by Anne Marthe Birkeland. In the second
period, Norway started with a couple of opportunities they could not convert, before Germany took control of the game and luckily tied the score by a
Valentina Maceri free kick.
In my eyes, it was a very bad decision to put the young girls even more under pressure and play a penalty shootout as the match was tied after the
regular time. Finally, NorwayÄs Maren Knudsen aimed her penalty shot too high, which made Germany win the unnecessarily cruel decision.
