Though Schalke 04's partner team Recklinghausen controlled most parts of the match, they did not manage to gain enough chances to get the deserved high win. Recklinghausen even wasted a penalty shot in the second half. Pulheim put their opponents under pressure in the final minutes so that the match became close again.
