Germany showed a fantastic first half and controlled the match completely. After fourty minutes, Ralf Peter's team already lead 3:0, so that they were able to slow down in the second period. Nevertheless, they controlled the match. Though there have been some Polish chances as well as German ones, no more goals were scored. With that victory, Germany reached the European Championships.
