After Pixbo beat Espoo dominating during the round-robin matches, you could have named them as favourite team of that
match, but it was definitely clear that this will be a totally different, a totally new match. The arena was filled with
about 1,500 spectators, players like Quist, Dahlgren, Hellgard or Ketonen, Huntikka or Karpannen, just to name a few ones,
in the rink were a real great deal for every floorball fan. There were many fans of both teams.
The Oilers' supporters could cheer early, when a shot slipped through Joackim Agrean. After eight minutes the score was
2:0 and 3:0 for Espoo after twelve minutes. The Oilers seem to have a perfect day in a great match, but after the slightly
unconcentrated start, Pixbo improved more and more and were able to score for the first time in the 15th minute.
Pixbo seemed to be able to turn the game when they scored in the 23rd minute again. But then, their captain Henrik Quist was sent out for
repeated offences for two minutes and got another two for protesting. Pixbo survived the four minute Espoo powerplay by a
fantastic boxplay, and when Quist stepped back in the rink from the bench, his shot was touched by an Espoo defender so that
Ketonen had no chance and the score was tied. While the spectators thought about this might have been the turning point
of the match, Espoo shot two more goals giving them back the two-goal lead in the 33rd and 34th minute. Pixbo seemed to be a bit
nervous, but recovered quite fast. When Peter Runnestig shot from the left face off spot in the 40th minut and the goal net shook,
the spectators though about that he had hit the net from outside, but the ball had moved over Ketonen shoulder.
After that thrilling second period, Espoo really had bad luck. Pixbo tied the score after 24 seconds and even got the
lead by an own goal. Then, an Espoo shot just hit the post. After Pixbo scored two more goals in the seventh and tenth
minute, the game seemed to be decided, but Espoo stroke back with two goals in the 53rd minute. Two more Pixbo goals decided the game finally.
Pixbo was the dominating team of the tournament. With two impressing wins versus Espoo and Weißenfels during the
round robin matches, the thrilling comeback versus Chur and this amazing final, the deserved to bring the European Cup
with them to Gothenburg.
